Our Mission:

Our water is our most precious natural resource, and it belongs to all of us equally. Here in South Florida, we know the consequences of too much – and too little water, making its availability – and its management – critical to our survival. That’s why the South Florida Water Coalition was formed – to help protect our water – for you.

As a 501(c)(4), the SFWC has spent the last five years building partnerships among elected officials, utilities, businesses, and our residents, while encouraging critical community-wide conversations about the many water issues that affect us. From the state capitol in Tallahassee, to the doorsteps of our area’s residents, the South Florida Water Coalition has proven to be a successful advocate for the public’s best interest by applying the following objectives:

  • Educate the general public on relevant water issues.

  • Advocate for the implementation of sensible and safe water policies.

  • Representation through an effective advisory board and relationship building with elected officials, the SFWC represents communities at the highest levels.

  • Communicate water concerns among our elected officials, utilities, businesses, and residents

The SFWC has covered a variety of critical issues, including raising awareness to sea level rise, supporting efforts to fight saltwater intrusion, promoting sustainability, protecting Lake Okeechobee water levels, and fighting to keep drinking water safe in local schools. And there’s more to do going forward – keeping the public informed, and encouraging conversations that bring our communities together – not move our communities apart. We encourage you to get in touch with us to help protect our water, and Florida’s future.
